cascais-museum

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to, is a little palace-like thing in Cascais (near Lisbon).
We discovered it after sunset, near fullmoon… – it’s at the harbour, by the old lighthouse;
with the sea swooshing in, … through an old stone-bridge, right up to the doorstep!
It really gave me shivers…

I’m glad we found out, that it doesn’t belong to some weird rich asshole:
it’s the “Castro Guimarães Museum” of Cascais!
I didn’t have my camera with me – so here‘s a good picture by curlygirl.

The Municipal Museum (Castro Guimarães Museum)
Situated in one of the most sought after areas of the town, where the sea appears to be trying to reach the Gandarinha Park, is the Counts of Castro Guimarães Palace, whose medieval castle overlooks the Santa Marta Cove. The Palace was donated to the local authority in 1924, when it became a Museum. It is worth a prolonged visit, not only for its unusual architecture, but also for its wealth of art and archaeology. You can appreciate works of art by national and international artists, some of them depicting Cascais and rich Indo-Portuguese furniture. The library was constantly replenished and updated, and has over twenty five thousand books, some of them from the XVII century, richly bound. It provides an exceptional source of information and assistance to lecturers, researchers and students. The Museum is open daily from 10.00 – 17.00, but closed on Mondays and Public Holidays. There are guided tours in several languages and visitors are accompanied. Do not miss the opportunity to take a walk in the adjacent park where there are lovely tiles and a mini-zoo.”

flickr-export for iphoto

A tool, which makes my life easier, is FlickrExport for iPhoto:
it’s a plugin which allows you to export pictures directly to the Flickr.com photo hosting service without having to “batch-scale” pictures beforehand.

-> FlickrExport is free to use and licensed under the BSD license.

SystemRequirements:
Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and iPhoto 4.x or 5.x.; iPhoto 2.x may work, but has not been tested.
Versions of Mac OS X prior to 10.3 will certainly won’t work.

congress

Hier in Lissabon isses “em-pörend” schön!
